Day Thirty  -  Pray before a major decision
Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

                  Christ often spent long hours in prayer.  This passage talks about the prayer to His Father the night before He chose the twelve disciples.  We read in the next verse,

Luke 6:13  And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

God knows the end from the beginning.  He knew who would be the best choice for a disciple.  He knew what they would do.  But even with that knowledge,  Jesus knew that prayer was a vital part of seeking God’s will.   He prayed before He went to the cross even though He knew that He would die and rise again.  In His deity He stated,

John 11:42  And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

Often His prayer is for our sakes that we can understand the importance of including God in our decisions.  Ultimately His desire will be done,  but it can involve either our obedience and blessings,  or our disobedience and lessons learned the hard way.

An Exercise to increase our Faith:  Perhaps you have an important decision to make in the coming weeks.  Before you make that decision,  bring that matter before the Lord and seek His desire and His will.  We are either too busy to pray,  or we are so busy that we must pray.   Our life must be lived in dependence on Him if we want Him to bless the decisions we make.
